Dry Fertilizers

  • Lady Bug 8-2-4: Poultry manure-based fertilizer, requires less product per square foot than other fertilizers.

Specialty Fertilizers

  • Rose Food by Rabbit Hill Farms: contains the nutrients that roses need most, including rock phosphate and corn meal (to prevent fungus).

Liquid Fertilizers

  • Garrett Juice: Liquid seaweed, molasses, compost tea and apple cider vinegar, all-purpose fertilizer and foliar-feed.
  • Garrett Juice Plus by Soil Mender: The same ingredients as Garrett Juice, but with added liquid fish.
  • John's Recipe by Lady Bug Brand: Liquid fish, seaweed, and compost tea, all purpose fertilizer and foliar-feed.
  • Hasta Gro for Plants or Lawns by Medina: An organic alternative to Miracle Gro
  • Liquid Fish: High in nitrogen
  • Liquid Seaweed: Adds healthy marine matter to plants and soil

Soil Amendments

  • Molasses, liquid or dry: Stimulates biological activity in the soil, brings soil to "life".
  • Lava Sand: Helps sandy soil retain moisture, helps keep hard soils loose.
  • Green Sand: Adds iron while helping soil retain moisture
  • Rock Phosphate: Adds phosphorus, a necessity for flowering plants and vegetables.
  • Humate: Highly concentrated organic matter. A cost effective alternative to top-dressing with compost

Weed Control

  • 10% Vinegar: Non-selective herbicide, starts killing on contact
  • 20% Vinegar: Non-selective herbicide, works faster than 10%, an organic alternative to Round-Up
  • Enhanced Vinegar by Soil Mender: A blend of 10% vinegar, orange oil, molasses, and a natural surfactant.
  • Corn Gluten Meal 9-0-0: Pre-emergent weed control and fertilizer. Helps stop weed seeds from germinating, when used as directed.

Compost

  • Cotton Burr Compost by Back to Earth: Adds nutrients to soil while helping keep soil loose and retain moisture.
  • Cotton Burr/Cow Manure Compost by Back to Earth: Contains extra nutrients from cow manure
  • Professional Landscaper's Mix by Back to Earth: Shredded hardwood and cotton burr compost make this a good all purpose product. Mix with native soil, or use as a mulch and moisture barrier.
  • Compost Blend Plus by Soil Mender: A blend of composted cotton burrs, cattle manure, alfalfa meal and humate. Great for side-dressing in gardens.
  • Revitalizer Compost by Lady Bug Brand: A blend of humus and manure composts, to create a balance of fungal and bacterial microorganisms for your soil.

Beneficial Insects

  • Lady Bugs: Feed on aphids, adults can eat up to 1000 aphids per day!
  • Beneficial Nematodes: Microscopic organisms which feed on the larvae of soil pests (i.e. grubs, fire ant larvae, armyworms)
  • Green Lacewings: Feed on spider mites, thrips, whiteflies, moths and other small pests.
  • Praying Mantis: Feed on just about every insect, including each other! If you have just one, it's a good sign.

Potting Soil

  • Vortex Potting Soil by Lady Bug Brand: A blend of five beneficial composts, mineral sand, expanded shale and perlite. The only potting soil we sell…for good reason.

Pest Control

  • Orange Oil: An orange extract of d-limonene. Kills many insects on contact and has many other uses, including cleaning and stain removal.
  • Plant oil-based product: Clove oil, thyme oil, and sesame oil. Kills many insects on contact. Especially good for mosquitoes and fleas.
  • Spinosad: derived from naturally occurring soil-dwelling bacteria. Kills many insects within days of ingestion, but does not harm beneficial insects (i.e. lady bugs, green lacewings). Works great for fire ants.
  • Castor Oil products: Repel a variety of digging and burrowing pests like moles and gophers.
  • Diatomaceous earth: Fossilized remains of diatoms (hard-shelled algae) used as a mechanical insecticide. It works by causing the insect to dehydrate and die. Good for fleas, cockroaches, ants and other crawling insects.

Disease Control

  • Horticultural Cornmeal: Corn is a natural treatment and prevention for soil- and root-based fungus.
  • Liquid Garlic: Another natural fungus control, can be used with or instead of cornmeal.
  • Plant Wash by Soil Mender: Treats damaged plant tissue, and prevents diseases, harmful pathogens and damaging insects.
  • Actinovate: Biological fungicide, excellent for brown patch, take-all patch, powdery mildew and many other fungal diseases.Potassium Bicarbonate-Similar to baking soda (sodium bicarbonate), except the sodium is removed (it could be harmful to plants) and replaced with potassium. Great fungicide for roses.
